As a teenager, it can be hard to feel useful in the real world. There are so many obstacles in our way, especially in terms of what we believe in, however there are so many small things we can do to help prevent climate change.

The world needs our help!

“All we have to do is wake up and change." - Greta Thunberg

  1. Making small decisions can make a big difference.

Doing small things like, taking shorter showers, walking or biking instead of driving and turning of lights throughout the day, can have a big impact on your carbon footprint.

2. Educating yourself and others.

Keeping in touch with news and reliable sources can update you daily on what is going on in the world. There are many resources directed at youth that can help you to fully understand our impact on the earth, using this knowledge and talking about it consistently to spread the word.

3. Say no to plastic products.

Use recyclable products instead of dangerous materials that slowly destroy the ecosystems of the world. Metal straws instead of plastic straws, tote bags instead of plastic bags and metal drink bottles instead of plastic bottles.

4. Change up your diet.

Changing up your diet to use less animal products can quickly reduce your carbon footprint. Becoming vegan can reduce your carbon footprint up to 73%! Even just making small alternatives in your every day life will help.

5. Unplug your devices.

Unplugging or turning off unused devices to save energy. Even when not in use, idle devices have an impact on your energy intake.

6. Stay warm.

Instead of turning on the heater, wear a big warm jumper and instead of turning the fan on, open a window.

There are so many things we wish we could do, but sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest differences.
